A scientific and practical seminar “Theory and Practice of Controlled Cultivation: Increasing the Productivity of Biotechnological Processes” was held at the Department of Biotechnology of D. Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology of Russia in Moscow.
The event brought together representatives of science and industry to discuss current approaches to optimization and control of biotechnological processes at the cultivation stage, including the use of membrane bioreactors, solving issues related to oxygen dissolution during fermentation, as well as automation and application of digital technologies.
Experts from the Biotechnology Department of ZAVKOM-ENGINEERING presented the results of the company’s in-house laboratory, in particular — practical approaches to controlling L-lysine fermentation under industrial conditions using the producer Corynebacterium glutamicum.
The report, based on real production experience and laboratory research data, demonstrated the accumulated expertise gained during our studies in the field of fermentation and controlled cultivation of microorganisms.
The presentation included a detailed analysis of the organization and optimization of the fermentation process under industrial conditions:
- general scheme of L-lysine fermentation;
- glucose syrup feeding regimes and control of nitrogen sources — ammonium sulfate and ammonia water;
- selection of biologically active additives and optimization of the composition of the nutrient medium;
- control of dissolved oxygen concentration during cultivation;
- monitoring of key process parameters and criteria for completion of fermentation;
- economic justification of the adopted technological solutions;
- capabilities of the pilot line and prospects for scaling up.
The report is based on real production experience and the results of research conducted in the ZAVKOM-ENGINEERING laboratory.
