ZAVKOM-ENGINEERING is expanding its portfolio of environmental solutions and announces the successful implementation of an advanced method for industrial wastewater treatment — high-speed magnetic coagulation and flocculation. The company is currently actively developing large-scale projects for the deployment of this technology at mining sector facilities.
The new solution is specifically adapted for the needs of the mining and coal industries, as well as ore and rare earth metal mining enterprises, where the challenge of treating large volumes of water with high suspended solids and metal content is particularly acute.
The method is based on the integration of a specialized magnetic reagent into the conventional physicochemical treatment process. Upon interaction with coagulants and flocculants, ultra-dense "magnetic flocs" are formed, with a powder particle serving as the core. Due to their high specific gravity, the settling rate of these flocs increases manifold — the separation of water and sludge takes just a few minutes.
Among the key advantages of the proposed systems are mobility and modularity. This allows the system to be easily transported by road and quickly relocated from site to site as the deposit develops or new mines open. At the same time, the capacity of the base modules can exceed 10,000 m³/day.
The technology ensures reliable reduction of suspended solids (e.g., from 700 mg/L to below 17 mg/L) and effective removal of heavy metals, particularly iron.
The systems are adapted to extreme conditions and are designed with Russia's harsh climate in mind, including Siberia. A special thermal insulation and heating system enables the plants to operate reliably in temperature ranges from −50 °C to +40 °C.
